“EDUCATION AND PSYCHOLOGY AS THE BASIS FOR THE FORMATION OF A SOVEREIGN AND TRANSFORMING CITIZEN”
September 21-24, 2026
Student Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Education and Psychology
Pedagogical University of Maputo
Republic of Mozambique
The traditional annual Student Research Conferences (SRC) of the Faculty of Education and Psychology at our university will be devoted to understanding the current state of humanities research from the perspective of various fields of psychological and pedagogical knowledge, with an emphasis on analyzing contemporary challenges young people are facing. These challenges arise not only from natural social dynamics but also from socioeconomic and geopolitical crises that mark a period of transition from simple, unbridled globalism to a globalism of increasingly sovereign states, which, at the same time, do not isolate themselves from the global community. Clearly, in this transition, every nation utilizes all available resources, but regardless of the level or stage of development, there is absolute unanimity in recognizing that the individual is the primary and most valuable resource of any society, and that the quality of this individual determines the level of human, civic, and patriotic consciousness that underlies the competitiveness of countries, which, in turn, will determine the level of their true sovereignty. In this transitional phase of digital integration and the implementation of artificial intelligence, teachers, as central figures in the learning process, face existential challenges that require them to transform their psychological, pedagogical, and didactic skills to support and develop their role as mentors and curators for the next generation of citizens. Since pedagogy and psychology are the sciences that underpin the education and training of new generations, this year's conference will focus on "Psychological and Pedagogical Ways to Overcome Contemporary Challenges Facing Students and Teachers in the Next Five Years," based on an analysis of the current socioeconomic, political, and geopolitical situation. " Undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students, as well as faculty lecturers and researchers (both national and international), are invited to share their ideas through the various presentation formats and sections available on the SRC.
Since learning how to teach is the core purpose of the Pedagogical University of Maputo, this issue of the SRC places special emphasis on the "You Know? Teach!" section, which is an interdisciplinary platform that enables the use of all digital resources that integrate knowledge from various fields of study through the psychological, pedagogical, and didactic skills of students and faculty from Pedagogical University and other partner educational institutions.
